REGIONAL UNESCO YOUTH FORUM 2015

Regional UNESCO Youth Forum 2015 is organized as preparatory activity before the 9th UNESCO Youth Forum 2015, Paris France; The Regional Forum is organized with the intention of inviting 50-80 Youth participants from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda aged between 18 to 24 years. The Forum is scheduled to take place in September 2015, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.



THE THEME of the Youth Forum is: Youth for Sustainable Planet

The entire thematic agenda of the Forum is designed to specifically showcase how youth can drive social change towards peace and economic opportunity. As youth shape their human and social capital
uring the crucial transitions they undergo towards adulthood, they question stagnating ideas and perceptions.
SUB-THEMES: under the main theme, the Forum will be focusing on three interconnected thematic areas (sub-themes), which are highly topical and have the potential to generate dynamic exchange and concrete ideas.
(i)           Youth and Policy Formulation and Review
(ii)          Capacity Development
(iii)         Civic and Democratic Engagement
MAIN OBJECTIVE
To provide a road map and establish mechanisms that will act toward ensuring that African youth are highly engaged into UNESCO activities and lead actions to promote peace and sustainable development in their communities.
Specific Objectives
  • To promote the participation of young people in the implementation of UNESCO Operational Strategy on youth 2014-2021.
  • To create a network of youth for UNESCO in the region.
  • To drawn youth recommendations for the 9th UNESCO Youth Forum 2015.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
To participants
·     Starting local small project in their areas to implement UNESCO Operational Strategy 2014-2021.
·         Be able to participate in community development processes.
·         Mobilize other youth to take actions toward sustainable development.
·         Interact with other people in impacting their communities.

·         Become aware of UNESCO programmes and activities.
·   Starting local friendly projects collaborating with
NESCO National        Commissions.
·         Take actions toward sustainable development.
